Quick Guide to Craps Betting

The biggest problem that most people have is that they do not know the proper way to bet and win in craps. I'm going to quickly go through the different bets and what they mean.

Pass/Don't Pass - You can only make these bets on the first roll. These are bets to whether the person rolling the dice will get the established point or fail doing so. The points on the first roll are 7 and 11. Getting these rolls will win on a Pass bet. The losing points on the first roll are 2, 3 and 12. These rolls will get you a win on a Don't Pass bet.

Otherwise, the first number rolled will be the point. After that a person that has made a pass bet wants this number to come up again before a 7 is rolled and vise-versa for a don't pass bet.

Come/Don't Come - Think of these as the Pass and Don't Pass bets after the first roll. They establish a new point for you that you have to get before a 7 is rolled. It is independent from the regular point set and carries through to the next point if necessary.

Place Bets - These are complicated and need more explanation then I'm going to give them. Buy and Place Bet to Win are the bets that mean you are trying to roll that particular number you bet on. Lay and Place Bet to Lose means that you need a 7 rolled before that number comes up.

Field Bet - This is a one roll bet that the next number will be a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12; essentially the four most common numbers to come up are removed. If you get a 2 or 12 on a Field Bet, you win twice your bet.

Hardway Bets - You are betting that a hard number or the dice showing a pair of numbers will appear before a 7 or the soft version of that number.

Any Craps - This is a one roll bet that the next number rolled will be a 2, 3, 11 or 12 and pays out 7 to 1.

Any Seven - This is a one roll bet that the next number will be a seven. It has a 4 to 1 payout and is the bet with the largest house advantage in Craps.
